Fur My Pet is owned and operated by the mother-daughter team: Gail and Julie. Gail has 25 years of retail experience in a family owned, high-end floral design company and Julie has a strong media and advertising background. Both love pets and strive to bring quality products to their customers with fun pet-loving service.

Hi, my name is Gail and I am the proud mommy to a beautiful Cocker Spaniel named Moose. I am no stranger to owning my own business. I have owned and run a successful floral design company in Beverly Hills for over 25 years and I appreciate the value of my relationships with my clients. I have grown up with dogs all of my life and I know the kind of fuzzie-wuzzies it takes to care for pets. With an excellent background in the service industry and a deep love for pets, starting this company with my daughter Julie was something I’ve always wanted to do.

Hi, my name is Julie and I am the proud sister to Moose! I have had the entrepreneurial bug and love for pets since I was a young child. Thanks mom! I used to bring home lost dogs and cats, take care of hamsters, birds and fish all while selling my hand made hair scrunchies, my dad’s silk ties, home-made lemonade and fresh baked cookies on our front lawn. I loved that bond with my customers – I was overjoyed to know they were happy with something they bought from me. In the past 13 years, I have worked in both retail sales and advertising. At one international retail company, I was ranked with the 4th highest sales in the company while only working part time – of the top 15, 14 were all full time employees. For the past 7 years, I have worked at a media and advertising agency, where there too I have excelled in my career by managing multimillion dollar national and international accounts. For me, joining forces with my mom was exciting, since I have the retail experience, media experience and I too adore pets.

Jesse Freidin was awarded 2010 Best Dog Photographer in the Bay Area for his fine-art pet portraiture. He also created the Doggie Gaga Project, an overnight media sensation linked online by Entertainment Weekly, MTV, TMZ, and The Sundance Channel, and featured on ABC’s Live! With Regis & Kelly.

With years of experience as a fine-art photographer and professional dog-handler, Freidin has a unique approach to animal photography that captures the deeply emotional tie that people have with their pets. One of the last surviving traditional photographers in the Bay Area, he creates museum-quality black-and-white photographs with unbeatable richness and tone, that are produced, from start to finish, entirely by hand.

For the Doggie Gaga Project, Freidin dressed his canine models in five of Lady Gaga’s most celebrated outfits, and photographed them using two packs of Polaroid film from the last remaining supply in the world. The resulting photos went online the next morning, and within three days, gossip columnist Perez Hilton found and tweeted them, setting off the viral coverage on TV, radio, and websites worldwide. In 6 days, his website had 80,000 hits, and his work was being seen and discussed in 140 countries.

Freidin is dedicated to traditional photographic methods and is fiercely loyal to his fine-art clients, their pets, and his own Boston Terrier, Pancake. In his spare time, he is now preparing the next shoot for his Doggie Gaga Project.
